Tuning Up Your Car

Posted by admin under Sports Cars

Tuning up your car is very important since it will be one of the factors that will determine your car’s fuel mileage, engine performance, ride-ability, and the car engine’s life. It should be done regularly to maintain your car’s excellent condition. Here are some pointers to consider when tuning up your car.

Proper Handling

A car with good handling should have stability when making turns and going around sharp corners. The rear tires should have just the right amount of grip to allow it to slide a bit during tight corners. This is crucial since a car with too much grip will make the car lose the right trajectory. Having little grip, on the other hand will make the car slide too much which will cause a loss of control and a decrease in speed during acceleration. Some of the things that are related to a car’s handling are: the car’s specifications, the style of driving, center of gravity, the total weight of the car, and the car’s chassis among others.

Driving Style

Driving aggressively but with total control is the best style possible. Putting your car near its limit as long as possible and avoiding damage the car will be a great challenge. A driver’s consistency and smoothness are major concerns when tuning your car to racing standards. Being fast and out of control is useless. Being quick and in total control will greatly improve your time.

Tools to use

Here is a list of the tools that you will need when tuning the car: screwdrivers, long nose pliers, normal pliers, vise-grips, electrical tape, scissors, wrenches, and some specialized tools. If you have no time to do it yourself or if you have no idea how to do it, then it is better to have the tune-up done by an expert mechanic since he will have access to all of the tools needed.

Some tips to getting a faster race time

First of all, you must have fun. Don’t push yourself to the limit since this might entail an accident. Always keep in mind that there is always another time to improve your racing performance. Always be on the alert for any situation that may arise from the competition. Try to keep away from any dangerous situation.

These are just a few things to consider when planning to tune up your car. Keeping your car in good condition means savings – fewer trips to the garage to change parts. Keep your car running smoothly and you will not have any headaches.

Fuel-Efficient Ford Cars: The New Trend

Posted by admin under New Cars

With gas prices soaring straight into oblivion, automobile customers and the rest of the auto market are looking for vehicles that would save their pockets from getting into trouble. Studies and research have found out that the numbers are showing that customers are leaning towards those vehicles that would assure them that they would not have to spend much on gas.

The market is actually looking for vehicles with smaller engines. This is because with smaller engines, owners would not need to have to refuel much for these types of engines only consumes a little amount of gas. This is actually a trend that has been seen in the sales of two Ford Motor Company vehicles Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. According to the sales of both vehicles, starting January up until the middle of May this year, the sales of these vehicles that held four-cylinder models almost doubled. In fact, sales for both have taken more than 20 per cent of all Ford vehicles sales.

George Pipas, the manager of Fords Sales Analysis, states, Along with the Fusion and Milan, the increase also includes Focus and Escape. Clearly, higher gas prices are increasing consumer demand to look at more fuel-efficient vehicles and powertrains. Indeed, the whole analysis shows that the auto market is now turning towards vehicles that are more efficient when it comes to fuel mileage. Of course, it also shows that people are becoming concerned and are becoming greatly affected by the whole gas price surge.

Pipas adds, For February of this year, the Fusions rate for the I4 was 41 percent, meaning that 59 percent of Fusion sales were for models with a V6. In March, the four-cylinder rate rose to 47 percent, and in April the rate jumped to 53 percent.

2006 Ford Focus: Never Better!

Posted by admin under New Ford News

Back in 2000, the year that the Ford Focus was introduced, Ford Motor Company was hoping that the model would be well received and exceed the sales totals of its previous small car, the Escort. Unfortunately, the new Focus was plagued by various minor quality problems and the car soon became the joke of the industry. Step forward to 2006, and the current Focus is vastly improved on earlier models. Lets explore what is helping the Focus become a proven challenger in the crowded small vehicle sector:

1. Aggressive Price. Yes, the number of cars available under US$15,000 continues to drop each year. However, the Focus takes it one step further as it retails just below $14,000. Comparably equipped Chevys, Kias and Hyundais sell for nearly the same amount, so the consumer has a good choice when buying the Ford Focus.

2. Sufficient Power. The 2.0L I4 engine paired to a five speed manual transmission gives the car enough power to get it moving and keep it moving at a nice clip on the freeway. Competing models offer smaller engines as small as 1.6L as found in the Kia Rio.

3. Spacious Interior. Up to five people can be carried in the Focus and the interior room is large for a car in its segment. Most small cars are intolerable for big rear seating passengers, but not so for the Focus. Compare the Focus seating to the Cobalt and the Focus is the clear winner.

4. An Assortment of Body Styles. Most cars built today come in only one or two body styles, however the Focus features four: a three-door ZX3 hatchback, a five-door ZX5 hatchback, a ZX4 sedan and the ZXW wagon. It is the ZX3 that retails for as low as US$13,990.

5. Respectable Fuel Economy. With EPA figures of 26 city / 34 highway, the Focus achieves a fuel mileage level that few small cars can boast of.

Competition in the small car group remains tight with the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cobalt, Hyundai Elantra, and Saturn ION all competitively priced. The Corolla remains the favorite amongst industry specialists, but the Focus has certainly shed its low quality status with the current model. Check out special financing deals through Ford Credit to save even more money on your Focus.

In conclusion, the Focus has improved with age, but it is in need of updating now that it is in its seventh model year. With Ford fortunes sagging, the company cannot afford additional dips in sales.

Tips to Help You Save Gas Consumption

Posted by admin under Sports Cars

With the constant increase in oil prices, car owners get more concerned about how they can save gas and money while driving. This article gives you tips on how you can reduce your gas consumption and save money.

Always have your car tuned-up regularly. If you cars engine is in bad operating condition it will utilize more gasoline. Vehicle maintenance will help your cars engine run efficiently thus improving your expenditure of money. Clean or change congested air filters to enhance your fuel mileage by as much as 10%.

Maintain a steady rate when driving you car. Frequent stops when driving add to your gas expenditure by as much as 30%. Imagine if you spend $3.00 per gallon, you lose $9.00 for every 10 gallons of gas that you consume. Avoid sudden stops and abrupt increases in speed. Make use of cruise control when you are driving on the highway. This will allow you to maintain a steady speed and avoid additional gas consumption.

Another way to keep a steady rate is by avoiding heavy traffic areas. Also avoid unnecessary use of the clutch.

Schedule buying your gas during the cool hours. It is ideal to purchase your fuel early in the morning or during the night. You will acquire extra for your cash during these cooler hours.

Close you car windows when you are driving on the highway. When your windows are closed the aerodynamics are better and it lessens the drag on the vehicle. Gaping windows cause extra friction and reduce your cars mileage.

Minimize the use of air conditioners when it is not necessary. Use your cars vents if possible. If you really need to use your air conditioner, try to set it as low as possible. Do not operate your air conditioner with your car windows open – it uses more gas this way.

Do not let your engine idle when not driving. Turn off you cars engine when you need to wait for a time longer than a minute. If your car is idle for more that one minute, it uses the same amount of gas that you would use when you are restarting the engine.

Lessen your cars load. The heavier the car, the more gas it will consume.

Check if tires inflated accordingly. Tires with appropriate pressure save fuel better than when under-filled or over-filled with air.

Ford Super Chips: Are They Worth It?

Posted by admin under New Ford News

Your Ford Mustang is a true pony car. A coupe with class and no other car on the road is like it. Heck, GM abandoned the Camaro and Firebird while Mustang sales continue to surge. Could it be that Mustang owners know a good thing when they drive it? You bet! Still, maybe you have considered ways to ratchet up the performance. Even with a V8 installed, perhaps you could squeeze out more power from an already potent engine? If that is the case for you a superchip may be right. However, are they worth it? Lets take a look at these little technological wonders and see if a super chip is what you really want.

So, exactly how does a superchip work? Thats easy! Every car comes with a computer chip much like the one the central processing chip that powers your computer. Your stock chip helps to regulate a bunch of things including fuel flow to your engine, horsepower, torque, etc. Unfortunately, stock chips arent maximized for performance so the chip you get isnt necessarily conducive to enhancing power.

Enter the Super Chip!

A Superchip or Super Chip puts the muscle into your chip. Either through completely replacing your current chip with a performance chip or sending out your chip to be modified, the end result is a tiny little device packed with more power. In actuality, the power isnt in your Ford Super Chip, instead it is in the instructions that the chip contains.

The Super Chip is modified to help boost horsepower, increase torque, and raise fuel mileage. So how can fuel mileage improveshouldnt it actually drop with more power? Well, the short answer is no. Because a superchip works to fine tune your engine, a better tuned engine requires less fuel. Because a super chip manages to work so precisely it can deliver on all three areas better horsepower, more torque, and improved fuel economy without compromise. This means you get a more potent car that is also more fuel efficient.

So, back to the original question: are they worth it? Well, that is for you to decide. However, if keeping your current car is your goal then for a few hundred bucks a super chip is a smart idea. No need to trade your car in for a new, pricey model. Simply take your existing car and supercharge it.

When shopping for a super chip you must be aware that the chips are developed with your specific make/model of car in mindall the way down to the type of engine underneath the hood. Some manufacturers of Ford super chips or other famous maker chips require you to take out your current chip and overnight it to the chip manufacturer, get it modified, and have it overnighted back to you. In this case your car would be out of commission for 2 or 3 days.

On the other hand, some manufacturers simply swap out your stock chip with a new one. That all depends on which chip model you select and the price you are willing to pay for your superchip.
